It is surely undeniable that for what regards cars and motorcycles in Italy there’s since a long time a big passion; so during the engine evolvement , various clubs, associations, collections, museums and celebrations for the preservation of this or those car and motorcycle make came up. But contrary to this, for trucks and busses we can’t say the same. Maybe because these vehicles have always benn conceived only as bulky, uncomfortable and slow work vehicles, so they have not been appreciated by the collectors, which prefer of course the design and the speed of two and four wheels. Only in recent time a real interest for recovering and preservation of old trucks and coaches is born. So with this purpose is born A.I.T.E., that is to give the possibility, to whom in his life has utilized trucks and busses, to see again this vehicles running on the road, for short but full opportunities. Besides to the youngs who are curious and interested to know and discover how goods and passengers were transported, this association give a big unforgivable possibility. The seat of A.I.T.E. is in Tortona . This town has not been at random selected, because particularly in the 50s and 60s when motorways were not yet developed in Italy, it was a significant crossroads for the goods from and to the port of Genova, and for this reason it had the nickname of “capital of the roadtransport”. Besides in 2006 in Tortona has been organized the most important show of historical trucks and busses of Italy. The main target between A.I.T.E.’s ambitions for the future, is to realize a standing museum where to show the most important models and makes of lorries and coaches which passed through and settled italian roads in the past. It is not so easy to find trucks and busses for restoration, since these vehicles until a few years ago, when they finished to run, were almost usually unavoidably destined to the blowtorch. Nevertheless, to avoid that mistakes made in the past will be repeated in the future, A.I.T.E. make his best in order to popularize to a always bigger public knowledge and consideration for the story of transport.
